Notice of a Gas Mask Inspection.

1940s

Everyone was supplied with a gas mask during the war and there were regular inspections of the children’s gas masks in school time.  The children would be taken to the gas van and a strong smelling but non-toxic gas was used for the test.  Adults were invited to have theirs inspected in the evenings of 9th, 10th and 11th June in 1942 at the school.  This notice was printed in The Parish Magazine for June.
