Victory Parade in 1945

1940s

Here the parade is seen crossing the end of Firmstone Street travelling along High Street towards Wollaston village.  The street lights were still gas lit and the one in the foreground is still covered in black paint.  The children seen here are seated on a cart borrowed from A & C Cross who ran a General Store on the corner of Mamble Road.
