Busy times at Wollaston Junction

1900s

The Enville Street lines also came in handy at busy times on the KLR, such as Sundays and Bank Holidays, when they were used as sidings to store cars needed a peak periods. This is one such occasion. One of the special Kinver cars can be seen outside The Waterloo. Car No.259 to the left is an ex-Birmingham cable tram which used to run to Handsworth. Like sister cars it was converted for use on the KLR and they became the only genuine toastrack cars used on the line. ‘259’ was its Birmingham fleet number! Note that we are up to fare stage 4 already
